Holiday Cottages Lake District

	Into an area of only about 34 miles square, the Lake District crams in a wide range of scenery including open moorland, marshes, woodland, dales (valleys) and of course, meres or lakes. The landscape is reflected in the place names as in Windermere, Borrowdale, Grasmoor and Wastwater. The area is scarred by formations and features left over from the Ice-Age, the highest of which is the craggy, 978m Scafell Pike. There are fifteen major bodies of water in the Lake District but only one with ‘lake’ in its name, and the area is best known as a centre for walking, riding, mountain-biking and climbing. Visitors to the area in search of holiday accommodation are guaranteed a stunning scenic location with every holiday cottage, house rental or farmhouse rental. There are so many Lakeland villages and towns to explore with castles and historic homes for when the weather is unfriendly. The best known and most visited is Dove Cottage, at Grasmere, the former home of the poet, William Wordsworth.The Lake District has some of the finest accommodation and eating areas that can be found in all of England.
